District level vigilance group will monitor the situation of women rights and prevalence of gender based discrimination and violence and will update the district administration and recommend measures for bringing improvement in the situation. The group will also mobilize the service delivery and grievance addressing channels for providing legal aid and psychological counselling support to the women and girls survivors of violence.
Highlighting the details of the meeting Professor Arshid Mehmood Mirza, Executive Director Baidarie stated that participants of the District Coordination meeting expressed deep concern over the existence of several bottlenecks and hurdles in provision of gender responsive relief, psychological counselling in traumatic situations, and legal administration of justice to women and girls survivors expedited basis.
There is a dire need to regulate the employment and working conditions of the women teachers working in the private sector, the group demanded. Arshid said that it is encouraging and appreciable that government has promulgated the laws in 2010 and 2012 for preventing harassment of women workers at workplace.
